What we do
Current Projects
Core 20 Plus 5 Connectors
Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board (ICB) are working with three local community organisations to reduce healthcare inequalities across three priority clinical areas that affect 20% of the most deprived communities disproportionately as part of the NHS's national Core 20 Plus 5 programme.
Empowering local communities in tackling barriers for making better health choices.
Our Core 20 Plus Connectors project is aimed at people living in Charnwood and is working closely with partners in the city and county on three clinical areas of health care:
– Early Cancer diagnosis,
- Chronic Respiratory disease
- Hypertension
In addition to the above we are also working on long covid.
The project is identifying and engaging with people (connectors) who have lived experience around the above clinical areas and who are able to help raise awareness through becoming a connector around the importance of early diagnosis, barriers to accessing services and in general helping the NHS improve their services.
If you are interested in becoming a connector or would like to get involved please contact minara@equalityaction.org.uk

Campaigning and lobbying
We campaign and lobby to change policies and practices, which discriminate or deny equal opportunities.
Training Programmes
Equality Action has over 45 years of experience in equality and diversity training to small and large organisations throughout Loughborough and Leicestershire. With the introduction of the Equality Act 2010 it is vital that organisations have an understanding and awareness of the needs of diverse communities.
This will help ensure that you are treating your service users and staff with respect and understanding and that you plan your services accordingly. Services and employment policies are required to be fair and equitable and not unintentionally biased or give offence thereby helping to protect you from any legal challenges.
We can offer training programmes on a range of topics tailored to your specific needs. Below are a few examples of the training programmes we provide. If there are any that aren't listed which you require, or if you'd simply like more information, please get in touch.
- Erasmus training
- Food & Hygiene
- Health & safety
- Un-bias
- Equality & diversity
