Changing Face of Hate - regional conference on hate crime
28th Feb 2018
Equality Action together with Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council and The Race Equality Centre (TREC) work together under the umbrella of the East Midlands Racial Equality Consortium. The organisation has secured some funding to organise a conference on Hate Crime at De Montfort University in Leicester aimed at raising awareness of racially and religiously motivated hate crime and incidents withing communities across the East Midlands. The conference will be taking place between 10.30am and 2.30pm on Saturday 14th April 2018.
Booking is through Eventbrite: https://changehate.eventbrite.co.uk/
The event is aimed at community activists with an objective of establishing a community based hate crime reporting network across Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.
Lord Willy Bach is one of the speakers. The whole point of the conference is to reach as many of the community groups as we can so that they are more aware of hate crime, what it means, the methods of reporting, what support is available and trying to raise champions in community groups that can help reach others. Often although a lot is happening at strategic levels with local councils and police, people at grass root levels are afraid to report, don’t have the confidence that their issue will be addressed etc.
We can offer travel expenses to support your attendance. We hope to hear from you soon. Please call me directly if you would like any other further details.
